Science in Scripture

I love that the Holy Bible is just full of scientific truths. Many people don't know about the things that the scripture says about different stuff but here are a few that i find to be quite interesting. (Most of this is taken from a message I heard listening to John MacArthur, "The Doctrine of Scripture.") Any reference to science has been proven to be accurate:

1. Hydrology (the study of the movement, distribution, and quality of water throughout the Earth).
Talking about the rain:
Job 36:27 For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: Job 36:28 Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly.

Psa 135:7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

Job 26:8 He bindeth up the waters in his thick clouds; and the cloud is not rent under them.

Job 28:10 He cutteth out rivers among the rocks; and his eye seeth every precious thing. Job 28:11 He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.

Psa 33:7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as an heap: he layeth up the depth in storehouses.

Most of these from Job (Considered to be the oldest book in the Bible). It speaks of the circulation of water, and how the oceans stay in their place, like its not even a guess, it is a known fact...

2. Astronomy (The science of celestial objects and phenomena that originate outside the Earth's atmosphere, such as stars, planets, comets, auroras, galaxies, and the cosmic background radiation).
Years ago people estimated that there were 1,030 stars. Now we know that there are hundreds of billions.
Jer 31:37 Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.
Think about the highlighted portions. We all know that the heaven above cannot be measured and never will be even with the most powerful telescope in the world. And can the foundations of the earth be searched out, well of course not since you would burn up pretty quick.

Speaking of the sun:
Psa 19:6 His going forth is from the end of the heaven, and his circuit unto the ends of it: and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
People used to say the Bible was wrong because the sun does not move, it does not have an orbit that has now been proven to be incorrect. The sun in fact does have an orbit in the milky way galaxy.
The Sun orbits the center of the Milky Way galaxy at a distance of about 25,000 to 28,000 light-years from the galactic center, completing one revolution in about 225–250 million years. (From Wikipedia.com)

3. Geology (The science and study of the solid matter of a celestial body, its composition, structure, physical properties, history and the processes that shape it).
Isostacy (a term used in Geology to refer to the state of gravitational equilibrium between the Earth's lithosphere and asthenosphere such that the tectonic plates "float" at an elevation which depends on their thickness and density. It is invoked to explain how different topographic heights can exist at the Earth's surface.) Easily put it is the balance of the Earth, as much depth in the sea as height in the mountains. Perfect weight balance.
Isa 40:12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

Or how bout the science of Geodesy (The shape of the Earth), remembering that most believed especially in that time that the world was flat:
Isa 40:22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

And speaking of that, how about the way the Earth rotates on an axis:
Job 38:14 It is turned as clay to the seal;
If you had to sign your name on a piece of parchment or clay, you had a signature cylinder that you would have to turn, sort of like a rolling pin, which of course turns like the Earth does on its axis.

4. Gravity
Job 26:7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

These are of course just a few, there are so many things the Bible has been correct about, including archeaology and prophecy. I think this is one of the great testimonies to the sufficiency and truth of scriptures. If you've got any other ones, leave me a few because I would be interested in some others.

But anyways, stuff is going good, last Bible Study went great. It will probably be the last, before I go off to Army camp next wednesday. So be praying for that, I hope to write again before I leave. And Jonathan and Logan I'm praying for both of you guys, have a good rest of summer.

Weak or Meek

Some would consider Christianity a crutch. Personally, that phrase doesn’t bother me, to me we all have a crutch but at least a Christian’s will be there for them, always.
Mat 6:20 ‘But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal;’

Meekness is a fruit of the spirit
An attribute of Christianity is the one of meekness (humility or gentleness):
Mat 5:5 ‘Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.’

It’s important that a Christian is meek not only to God but to his fellow-man. The meek are not easily angered, nor do they envy the gifts and blessings of other men. The meek one puts all of his strength in God; they do not attempt to do things on their own, away from the presence of God. They abide in his strength, so while many may at first see meekness as a weakness, a Christian would tell you he is stronger and more courageous than anyone because he has the power of God behind him.
Phi 4:13 ‘I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.’

A meek Christian is one who follows Christ’s example, because even He said:
Mat 11:29 ‘Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.’

Meekness creates a comfort a rest and peace in God. The last verse touches on that as well as:
Psa 37:11 ‘But the meek shall inherit the earth; and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.’
Once one puts all his worries aside and becomes meek in heart, he begins to do the things he does for God’s will and not his own. As Jesus prayed:
Luke 22:42 ‘Father, if You are willing, remove this cup from Me; yet not My will, but Yours be done.’
The Christian then lets God takes over and no longer concerns himself with the things that will pass away in life.

Towards his fellow-man he no longer is jealous of them, even when they have good things happen to them, and it seems that God favors them. The meek do not have mean thoughts of others, his meanest thoughts are of himself.

There is a lot more about this subject of meekness, and this may seem not very well structured, but this is what we will be talking about tonight in our bible study, so it is a few things that have been on my mind.

Micah 7:7-9

7But as for me, I will watch expectantly for
the Lord;
I will wait for the God of my salvation.
My God will hear me.
8Do not rejoice over me, O my enemy.
Though I fall I will rise;
Though I dwell in darkness, the Lord is a
light for me.
9I will bear the indignation of the Lord
Because I have sinned against Him,
Until He pleads my case and executes
justice for me.
He will bring me out to the light,
And I will see his righteousness.

*There will be times when those who would love to watch you fail, will rejoice when you sin. They will be happy that you sinned when you called yourself a Christian.
Do not let it get you down. Though you fall down and are in the darkness, the Lord will plead your case and execute the justice that is necessary, so that you will shall be blameless in the day of our Lord Christ Jesus. (1 Cor. 1:8, Psalms 51:4). Never lose sight in God, who will always be your light, and who will always lift you out of the darkness. Believe He can, and He will.

Church was good this morning we spoke about the "Seriousness of the Christian Life". Tomorrow is our bible study/accountability group. Pray for our group, we could really use it.

The Beginning

I have created this blog to update, for some who might be interested, on how things are going with different stuff (i.e. Bible Studies, Church, etc.)
I hope to post stuff to help encourage you in your Christian walk and to be encouraged as well by people who wish to post something. Also to let you know about things going on in my life, and some things that I have learned. I'll attempt to update as often as I can.
